Andrés Barrera

I’ve spent the last 5 years as a multidisciplinary Software Engineer, Product Designer, and Community Leader with a proven track record of architecting full-stack systems, leading product development teams, and designing culturally-intelligent, user-first experiences across startups, mid-sized companies, and nonprofit sectors. Having started coding at the age of 13 and receiving a Bachelor's in Computer Engineering from Purdue University, I am a perpetual builder, learner, and explorer.

I work as an independent contractor and founded CircleSquare Labs to provide application engineering, UI/UX design, and data automation systems for early stage startups.

In 2023, I established Hispanic Hackers as a 501(c)(3) non-profit and community of over 2,700 members to date with the goal of making the tech industry more accessible for Latino and Hispanic people. Serving as the organization's president, I lead teams of volunteers, organize events, and provide opportunities and mentorship to my community.

As a lifelong learner, I constantly seek to expand my knowledge and skills, and I am always looking for new challenges and opportunities to grow. I am fluent in English and Spanish, with a foundational understanding of Romance languages, Japanese, and Russian. I have had the privilege of walking the streets, trails, and beaches of 24 countries across 6 continents and living in Japan, Vietnam, and the United States. My opportunistic mentality and adaptability never ceases, whether I am climbing volcanoes in Japan, building tech products in Austin, or backpacking South America.
